Figure 5 depicts the signal response of E-DNA to samples of DNA molecular markers (at 200 nM) and molecular markers composed of a mixed polymer of DNA and the nonnatural DNA analog, LNA (at 20 nM), stored in blood serum for up to 116 days. There is no significant signal response from the DNA markers stored for 10 days in blood serum; however, a response (comparable to that observed for the DNA/LNA marker in buffer at day 0) is observed for the DNA/LNA markers after even 25 days storage in blood serum at room temperature or 116 days at 4 °C, suggesting DNA/LNA markers as feasible tissue markers.
