Two Knights Hunting | Deux chasseurs

Two noblemen are standing in the foreground with a dog. The background of the painting to the left is defined by a richly draped red curtain, which falls diagonally from the upper right-hand corner towards the bottom left corner of the painting. The right part of the painting has a view of the landscape with a river and a view that is obscured by a low horizon, and the upper three-quarters of the painting are filled with cloudy sky. The noblemen are turned a slight three-quarter profile towards the right of the painting, while the dog turned in the profile to the left of the painting. The noblemen are dressed in 18th century costume with grey wigs. The shorter one on the left holds with his right hand the top of the rifle that is resting on the ground, while pointing with his left hand to the right of the picture. The right hand of the nobleman on the right is covered, while his left hand is pointing in the same direction as the other noblemen's, thus implying that both of them are pointing to a view of a town or a manor house in the background of the painting. In his raised right hand he is holding a document, while the left hand is resting on the armrest of the armchair. The oval painting shows, in front of a neutral background, the bust portrait of Russian Tsar Nicholas II that is only slightly turned towards the right of the picture. The Tsar is shown in his adulthood, dressed in an officer's uniform with decorations, epualettes and a sash across his right shoulder. The painting shows, in front of a neutral background, the portrait of a young lady to the waist with the body turned to the front and the head gently lowered towards her left shoulder. The lady is dressed in the fashion of the first half of the 19th century, in a luxurious white dress with a high waist and a multicolored cape that is symmetrically draped over the hands to the side. Her hair is combed with a parting in the middle with locks, and she is wearing a diadem and a necklace. Inventory No: S-20

The young woman is leaning her sleepy face on the hand of her bent arm. Her bare right shoulder is draped with a light dress cut in the fashion of the twenties. Her neck is adorned with a pearl necklace, and on her head she carries a red cap in the form of a turban. Inventory No: S-14

The Adoration of the Magi | L'adoration des Mages

The figural composition of the Biblical theme of the adoration of the Magi is shown in the foreground. To the left, on a raised throne, is a group with the Mother of God, the infant Jesus in his mother's arms and Joseph; the group is approached from the right by the Magi, who are bowing. The left part of the painting in the background shows the architecture of the wooden manger, while the right side shows the monumental architecture of a triumphal arch through which a procession of figures diminished by the perspective. Above the scene, in the center of the upper part of the painting, is a group of hovering winged angels. Inventory No: S-3

Biblical Theme | Scene biblique

Figured composition with four figures in a landscape show an unidentified Biblical (?) theme. The center of the foreground shows a female figure crouching in profile, turned to the right of the painting. In the right of the painting there is a woman moving forward with a jug, turning to the left of the painting, while between them, moved a little into the background is a third female figure in profile, resting on a raised support, and also turned to the left of the painting. A fourth figure is shown further away in the background, sitting on the left of the picture. The women are wearing togas and capes and veils over their heads. A hilly landscape with a lake occupies the background of the picture. Inventory No: S-45

High Hopes

Carved marble head of a woman with oval face and mouth slightly open. The wavy hair is dressed backwards with a parting in the middle. The face is intact. A small fragment of the hair on the left side is broken. Roman period. Place of excavation: Sebasteion. Inventory No: 79-176

Koran

Forty (40) pages of parchment from an ancient Koran written in black ink and consisting of seventeen lines. The diacritic lines between the verses are indicated by two concentric circles, and the vocalisation is shown by red points.

Funerary stele in marble. The square block of marble has 2 grooves in the middle giving the impression of 2 steles attached with acroters on the upper part. The upper slab is slightly larger than the stele itself. On the left panel, there is a frontal view of a woman. The hair parted in the middle, and falls on the shoulder partly covered by a scarf. The woman's left arm is hidden in her dress, and her right arm is on her chest. Her face is round, her eyes, nose and mouth are damaged. On the right panel, there is a frontal view of a man, curly hair, large face with beard and moustache; his left arm is placed inside his clothing and his right arm is on the chest. The stele bears no inscription. The sides and the back of the marble are roughly cut and without ornament.

Funerary stele carved in stone, with a spiral geometrical design

Rectangular carved building stone with a pointed top.

Part of the funerary stele of the lady Fatma Hayriye, daughter of Ottoman Prime Minister Avni Pacha, who died in 1316. The stele, above a polygonal plinth, is cylindrical with pointed tongues on the upper and lower edges, and covered by a marble scarf or bridal veil exposing only 3 of the tongues.

Rectangular carved stone drinking trough. The inside has been hollowed out. The front is decorated with a design in the form of a shield, with a circle in the center and an illegible inscription above.
