Arrests, Persons Under 15, 18, 21, and 25 Years of Age, 2011

  • In 2011, individuals under the age of 25 accounted for 41.1 percent of all arrestees.
  • Individuals under the age of 25 comprised 41.7 percent of all arrests for violent crime.  Among the violent crimes, this age group accounted for 45.9 percent of all arrests for murder and 62.5 percent of arrests for robbery.
  • Persons under the age of 25 accounted for 51.2 percent of all arrests for property crime.  Among the property crimes, this age group accounted for 55.4 percent of arrests for burglary and 61.9 percent of arrests for arson.
  • In 2011, 23.5 percent of all persons arrested for arson were under the age of 15, and 53.0 percent were under the age of 21 years.
  • Arrests of persons under the age of 25 comprised 45.5 percent of all arrests made for drug abuse violations.
