Overview
Five-Year Arrest Trends, by Sex, 2006–2010
- In 2010, the number of males arrested decreased 11.1 percent, and the number of females arrested decreased 2.0 percent when compared with figures from 2006.
- The number of juvenile males (those under age 18) arrested in 2010 dropped 24.0 percent, and the number of arrests of juvenile females declined 16.7 percent when compared with the 2006 data.
- For the 5-year trend, the number of males arrested for violent crimes decreased 11.3 percent and the number of females arrested for these offenses decreased 3.2 percent.
- A comparison of arrest data for 2010 with those for 2006 showed the number of males arrested for murder decreased 14.8 percent, and for females, the number of arrests decreased 16.7 percent.
- Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes decreased in both genders in 2010 when compared with data for 2006. The number of arrests of juvenile males dropped 25.6 percent, and the number of arrests of juvenile females fell 23.9 percent.
- The 5-year trend indicated that the number of males arrested for property crimes declined 2.9 percent, but the number of females arrested for property crimes increased 27.6 percent.
- Arrests of juvenile males for property crimes in 2010 declined 16.5 percent when compared with the 2006 number, but arrests of juvenile females for property crimes during the same comparison period increased 6.6 percent.
